How to send money without a banking app

Not everyone wants another banking app taking up space on their phone. The good news: you can send money to any Nigerian bank without installing one, using the WhatsApp you already have.

How it works on Aurra

Aurra runs entirely inside WhatsApp. You get a personal virtual account number that anyone can send money to, and you send out from the same chat. There is no app to download and no web form to fill in.

1. Send hi to Aurra on WhatsApp to start onboarding.
2. Follow the screens: your name, email, NIN, and a 6-digit PIN.
3. Once verified, you receive your virtual account number. Fund it by transferring from any bank.
4. Tap Send Money, pick the bank, enter the account number, confirm the name, enter the amount, and type your PIN.

What you need to open one

Is it safe without an app?

Yes. Every transaction needs your PIN, your PIN is hashed and never stored in plain text, and five wrong attempts lock the account for 24 hours. You can freeze the account instantly from the chat if your phone goes missing. More in protecting your PIN.
