Lost or stolen phone: what to do next
A missing phone is stressful, but your money is not lost with it. The exact steps to lock things down and get back in.
Your Aurra account follows your WhatsApp number, not the physical phone. So even if the device is gone, your account can be secured quickly, and your balance stays intact while you sort out a new phone.
1. Freeze your account first
Freezing blocks every outgoing transaction immediately, while deposits still arrive safely. Do this before anything else:
- If you can still reach WhatsApp on another device, send
freeze. - Or sign in to the dashboard anywhere and use Settings, then Freeze Account.
- If you have a security email from Aurra, the freeze link in it works too.
2. Protect the number and your email
Because your account is tied to the number, protect the number too. Contact your network provider to block the SIM as soon as possible, and change the password on the email address you use for Aurra, in case anything on the phone could reset it.
3. Get back in on a new phone
Install WhatsApp on the new phone and set it up with the same number. Your chats and your Aurra account follow the number, so you can carry on as before and unfreeze with your PIN when you're ready. If your number itself has changed, email support to move your Aurra account to the new number.
If you cannot access WhatsApp at all
You are not locked out of your money. Use Emergency Withdrawal on the dashboard to send your balance to a bank account in your own name. It needs your NIN, a one-time code to your email, and your PIN, so only you can do it.
Never hand an old phone or SIM to someone else while it can still reach your account. Remove the WhatsApp account and factory reset the device first, or block the SIM with your network.
Need a hand?
Email support@aurra.online from your registered email address with what happened. Support will never ask for your PIN or for a one-time code.
Try it yourself, on WhatsApp.
Send hi to Aurra on WhatsApp. Onboarding takes a couple of minutes.
